Whimsical Nursery Makeover

Creating your child’s nursery is one of the most exciting things you get to do in the lead up to the birth, but when the time actually comes to turn those four walls into a beautiful nursery the task can be pretty daunting. Here is an example of how we took a plain white ‘box’ room and turned it into a dreamy whimsical space. The first thing we did was paint the walls a soft heather grey, this straight away transformed the room and gave it a much more baby friendly feel. We painted the built in cupboard doors in the same colour paint by simply using a wood primer underneath the paint. Next we added some Ikea photo ledges across the length of one of the walls, these are perfect for displaying toys, photos or any other essentials you may want to hand. We chose a beautiful cot bed in soft grey, which would be perfect for a boy or girl and complimented the colour of the walls beautifully. We added a beautiful bookcase and some painted suitcases for storing all baby’s essentials and a few more colourful shelves and an adorable shadow box house shelf to the walls. As the room is small we wanted to make the most of the space so we mounted some acrylic card holders to the back of the door for displaying books. Lastly we scoured sites like Etsy for unique handmade toys and décor to add all the finishing touches. Et Voilà, our dreamy whimsical nursery…
